WeWork Japan、広島市と スタートアップ支援および企業誘致などの推進に関する連携協定を締結

フレキシブルオフィス WeWork を日本国内で展開する WWJ株式会社（本社：東京都港区、代表取締役社長 兼 CEO：熊谷 慶太郎、以下「WeWork Japan*1」）は、広島市と、2025年12月1日（月）に「スタートアップ支援および企業誘致などの推進に関する連携協定」を締結いたしました。

また、WeWork Japanは、2027年竣工予定の広島市中心市街地再開発ビル「KAMIHACHI X（カミハチクロス）」の予約契約を締結し、中・四国エリア初の新拠点の開設に向けて、広島市との取り組みを加速してまいります。これにより、WeWork Japan 国内9都市目の進出となります。

新拠点の開設に先立ち、2026年4月より、広島市内において、WeWorkのモデルルームをオープンし、地域企業やスタートアップの交流イベントなどを実施していく予定です。

広島市は、ものづくり産業が盛んな地域特性を活かしながら、広島広域都市圏における産業活動のダイナミズムを持続させていくため、新たな企業の誘致やスタートアップ支援を積極的に推進し、企業間連携やイノベーション創出に向けた施策を展開してきました。

WeWork Japanは、世界に広がるグローバルネットワークと日本全国の拠点運営を通じて、企業・個人・自治体・教育機関など多様なプレイヤーが出会い、イノベーションを生み出す“オープンイノベーションプラットフォーム”としての役割を担ってきました。

こうした双方の目指す方向性が一致したことから、このたび本協定を締結する運びとなりました。本協定を通じて、広島市とWeWork Japanは、それぞれが保有する情報やノウハウ等を用いて相互に連携協力し、広島市域における地域経済の活性化、都市魅力の向上及び発信並びに多様な人材の活躍支援の推進を図ります。

広島市とWeWork Japanは、次の事項について連携して取り組みます。

• スタートアップ支援及び企業誘致に関すること
• 企業間及び地域コミュニティとの連携に関すること
• 都心の魅力向上及び地域課題の解決に関すること
• プロモーション活動に関すること
• 多様な働き方の推進、学生や若者、女性の活躍の推進に関すること
• 前各号に掲げるもののほか、本協定の目的を達成するために必要な事項

本協定に基づき、広島市とWeWork Japanは以下のような取り組みを検討・推進してまいります。

• WeWork Japanが有するグローバルネットワークおよびコミュニティを活用した、スタートアップの成長支援（マッチング支援、オープンイノベーションの促進など）
• 広島への企業誘致に向けた国内外の企業・スタートアップ・投資家との情報連携などを強化
• 地域課題解決や広島の魅力発信に向けたイベント・セミナー・ワークショップの共催
• 広島都心の魅力向上と地域課題解決に向けた共創パートナーとしての参画
• 本協定の目的を達成するために必要なその他の協働プロジェクトの検討

WeWork Japanは、2027年春竣工予定の広島市中心市街地再開発ビル「KAMIHACHI X（カミハチクロス）」において、新拠点を開設するための予約契約を締結いたしました。この新拠点は、広島市の中心エリアにおける新たなイノベーション拠点として、地元企業・スタートアップ・教育機関・行政・市民が交わる “共創の場” となることを目指します。

「KAMIHACHI X」が掲げる “新しいにぎわいと交流の基点となり、新時代の広島を牽引するシナジーを生む”というコンセプトは、WeWork が目指す“コミュニティは、可能性の空間”という理念と深く共鳴しています。この思想の共通点から、WeWork JapanはKAMIHACHI Xにおける新拠点を、広島の未来を形づくる多様なプレイヤーが集うハブとして位置づけ、地域の新しい可能性を共に育んでまいります。

基町相生通地区第一種市街地再開発事業により誕生する複合高層棟「KAMIHACHI X（カミハチクロス）」は、広島市中心市街地である紙屋町・八丁堀（通称「カミハチ」）エリアに位置しています。

ビル名称には、“この場所をカミハチエリア内外のヒト・モノ・コトがクロスする場所にしたい。これからの新しい広島のまちづくりを地域とともに考え、発信していく場所にしたい“という想いが込められています。

同ビルには1階「かみはちひろば」、6階「かみはちこうえん」など市民・訪問者が利用できるオープンスペースも整備されます。

また、中国地方初のラグジュアリー・ライフスタイルホテルの「アンダーズ」のほか、産業支援機能を備えた広島商工会議所、商業店舗、国内最大級の高規格オフィスなど、多用途に対応した施設が計画されています。

WWJ Corp. (“WeWork Japan*1”), the operator of WeWork’s flexible workspaces in Japan, has signed a Partnership Agreement on Startup Support and Corporate Attraction with Hiroshima City.

In addition, WeWork Japan has entered into a reservation agreement for a new WeWork location within KAMIHACHI X, a large-scale redevelopment project now underway in central Hiroshima and scheduled for completion in 2027. This will be WeWork’s first location in the Chugoku-Shikoku region and marks its expansion into a ninth city in Japan.

Ahead of the grand opening, WeWork Japan will launch a model room inside the Hiroshima Chamber of Commerce and Industry Building in April 2026, hosting networking events and community programs that connect local companies and startups.

Hiroshima City is leveraging its strong manufacturing heritage to drive economic vitality across the metropolitan area, advancing policies that attract companies, support startups, and stimulate innovation.

WeWork Japan, through its global network spanning 37 countries and 600+ locations, has served as an open innovation platform, connecting companies, individuals, governments, and academic institutions, and helping to spark new collaborations nationwide.

Recognizing a shared vision for innovation-led regional growth, Hiroshima City and WeWork Japan will work together to revitalize the local economy, enhance the city’s appeal, and expand opportunities for diverse talent through mutual collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Under this partnership, Hiroshima City and WeWork Japan will collaborate to:

• Support startups and attract new businesses to Hiroshima
• Strengthen collaboration among companies and local communities
• Advance urban revitalization and tackle regional challenges
• Regarding promotional activities
• Promote diverse workstyles and empower students, youth, and women
• Pursue additional initiatives aligned with the objectives of this agreement

Based on this partnership, Hiroshima City and WeWork Japan will jointly explore and promote initiatives such as:

• Supporting startup growth by leveraging WeWork’s global network and community expertise (e.g., business matching, open innovation programs)
• Enhancing information-sharing with domestic and international companies, startups, and investors to attract business to Hiroshima
• Co-hosting events, seminars, and workshops to address local challenges and elevate Hiroshima’s visibility and appeal
• Collaborating as co-creation partners to drive the revitalization of Hiroshima’s urban center
• Advancing additional joint projects aligned with the goals of this agreement

WeWork Japan has signed a reservation agreement to open a new location within KAMIHACHI X, a landmark redevelopment project in central Hiroshima scheduled for completion in spring 2027. The new space will serve as a hub for co-creation and innovation, bringing together local companies, startups, educational institutions, government bodies, and citizens to collaborate and shape Hiroshima’s future.

The concept behind KAMIHACHI X, “a nexus of activity and collaboration that generates new energy to lead the next era of Hiroshima”, resonates strongly with WeWork’s belief that “community is the space of opportunities.” Through this shared vision, WeWork Japan aims to make its Hiroshima location a vibrant gathering place for innovators and changemakers, fostering new opportunities for connection and regional growth.

KAMIHACHI X is a mixed-use high-rise complex being developed as part of the Motomachi Aioi Street District Type 1 Urban Redevelopment Project, located in the heart of Hiroshima’s Kamiya-cho/ Hatchobori (“KAMIHACHI”) area. The name “KAMIHACHI X” embodies the idea of creating a “crossing point” where people, goods, and ideas intersect, contributing to the next chapter of Hiroshima’s city-building story.

The building will feature open public spaces such as KAMIHACHI Hiroba (plaza) on the 1st floor and KAMIHACHI Park on the 6th floor. It will also house Andaz, the first luxury lifestyle hotel in the Chugoku region, the relocated Hiroshima Chamber of Commerce and Industry, commercial facilities, and one of Japan’s largest high-grade office spaces.
