ソフトバンク100%子会社による WeWork の運営を開始

ソフトバンク株式会社（本社：東京都港区、代表取締役 社長執行役員 兼 CEO：宮川 潤一、以下「ソフトバンク」）の100%子会社であるWWJ株式会社（本社：東京都港区、代表取締役社長 兼 CEO：ユー・ジョニー・ジョン・ワン、以下「WWJ」）は、WeWork Japan合同会社からの事業承継が完了し、本日2024年4月1月から、フレキシブルオフィスである WeWork の 日本での運営を開始します。また、経営陣や従業員はこれまでと変わらず従事するとともに、本日付で、ソフトバンク 取締役会長の今井康之が代表取締役会長に就任しました。

WeWork Japan*1 では今後、柔軟な働き方に対応する新サービス・プロダクト開発、生成AIの導入をはじめ、WeWork入居メンバー企業とのオープンイノベーションや新規事業開発の推進、イベント開催など、様々な取り組みに益々注力し、さらなるメンバーエクスペリエンスの向上を目指してまいります。また、新しい働き方を牽引するサービスを拡大し、さらに多くの企業様、起業家の皆様、そしてビルオーナーの皆様に WeWork の価値を感じていただけるよう、益々精進してまいります。

また、現在6フロアで展開している「 WeWork 渋谷スクランブルスクエア」を計7フロアに拡張し、2025年オープンを予定しています。これにより、国内最大規模*2 のフレキシブルオフィスとして、WeWork 入居メンバー企業の様々なニーズに応えてまいります。同時に、ソフトバンクとの共創により、オフィスのDX（デジタルトランスフォーメーション）を加速させていく予定です。WeWork のこれまでのフレキシブルオフィスや働き方に関する知見と、ソフトバンクのテクノロジーとの相乗効果により、さらに新しいオフィスの価値を提供してまいります。

WWJ Corp. (“WWJ”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. (“SoftBank”), has completed the transfer of its business from WeWork Japan GK and will begin operating WeWork, the leading flexible office provider in Japan from today, April 1, 2024. In addition, management and employees will continue to operate as before, Yasuyuki Imai, Director & Chairman of SoftBank, assumes the role of Chairman of the Board effective today.

WeWork Japan*1 will persist in developing new services and products and implementing generative AI to support flexible work styles. Additionally, our focus lies on various initiatives to further enhance the member experience through promoting open innovation, new business development, and holding events with WeWork members. As a pioneer in new ways of working, we aim to expand our business and are dedicated to showcasing the extraordinary value of WeWork to even more enterprises, entrepreneurs, and building owners.

“WeWork Shibuya Scramble Square”, currently with six floors, will see an expansion to a total of seven floors and is scheduled to open in early 2025. This will position WeWork Shibuya Scramble Square as the largest flexible office space*2  in Japan, catering to the various needs of WeWork members. Through co-creation with SoftBank, we plan to accelerate digital transformation (DX) at the location. The synergy between WeWork’s expertise in flexible offices and work styles, and SoftBank’s technology will unveil even more new office values.
